A rare total solar eclipse is expected to occur on a remote peninsula in Western Australia, causing the day to turn into night. The eclipse will be witnessed by around 20,000 people from all over the world as the moon casts a 40-kilometre-wide shadow over the World Heritage-listed Ningaloo reef area. The event will take three hours as the moon passes between the sun and earth, with darkness lasting for approximately 62 seconds. The phenomena, which will be visible as a partial eclipse in other parts of Australia, is expected to create a “life-changing experience” for those lucky enough to witness it.
