The bronze statue of Queen Elizabeth, previously toppled on the grounds of the Manitoba legislature, has been restored and reinstated in its original position. During Canada Day in 2021, the statue was one of two monuments brought down by protesters in the wake of suspected unmarked graves being found at a former residential school in Kamloops, B.C. Although the statue had sustained damage from the fall, Charles Brunet, the owner of the restoration company, worked tirelessly to repair it. The statue of Queen Victoria, however, was irreparably damaged and has not been replaced.
