The Canadian government’s priorities for defending the nation’s security seem to be misplaced, as they have focused on fictional threats while ignoring real threats from hostile regimes such as China. The recent Emergencies Act was used to quell the Freedom Convoy protest, which posed no real threat to national security, while the government has been lackadaisical in addressing the security threats from China. This negligence compromises Canada’s security and invites foreign predators into a defense vacuum. Moreover, the government has failed to address security threats from within, including Chinese influence in international organizations, election interference, and extraterritorial policing. The government’s lack of transparency and secrecy regarding these matters is a cause for concern, and Canadians should demand change.
