A lawsuit has been filed against BioNTech by a German woman who claims to have suffered negative side effects from its COVID-19 vaccine. The plaintiff is seeking at least 150,000 euros ($161,226) in compensation for bodily harm allegedly resulting from the vaccine. The plaintiff reported experiencing swollen extremities, fatigue, a sleeping disorder, and pain in the upper body following vaccination. BioNTech has rejected the claim, stating that its Comirnaty vaccine has a positive benefit-risk profile and a well-characterized safety profile. The European Medicines Agency has also maintained the benefits of COVID-19 vaccines but acknowledged the small risk of heart inflammation conditions associated with Comirnaty. Other reports suggest that other athletes and Americans have also suffered negative consequences from the COVID-19 vaccine. A report by Phinance Technologies suggests that COVID-19 damages in the United States alone have cost almost $150 billion and resulted in 1.36 million disabilities and approximately 310,000 excess deaths.
