The National Security Council (NSC) of Israel has raised the threat level for travel to Australia and several countries in Western Europe, but not the United States. They recommended increased precaution when traveling to Australia, due to the increased pro-Palestinian protests in the country, which included chants implying the destruction of Israel. Israelis were also urged to avoid openly displaying their Israeli and Jewish identities and symbols, even in countries where no travel warnings had been issued.
The United States, Canada, and Mexico remained at the green level 1 for travel. The NSC has raised the threat level for many countries in Western Europe, South America, Russia, and Australia to level 2. Israelis were advised to choose their destinations wisely and practice caution wherever they go.
The NSC also recommended postponing travel to countries where travel warnings had been issued, particularly Arab and Middle Eastern countries, the North Caucasus, countries bordering Iran, and several Muslim nations in Asia. The threat level for African nations, including South Africa and Eritrea, as well as Central Asian countries, was raised to 3, meaning reconsidering non-essential travel to these countries.
Meanwhile, Australian authorities have advised travelers to “reconsider their need to travel” to Israel and occupied Palestinian territories amid ongoing conflict in the Middle East. They also warned against travel to Gaza, the border areas with Lebanon closed by Israeli authorities, and the West Bank.
Overall, the NSC identified increased efforts by Iran and its proxies, including Hamas and Global Jihad factions, to harm Israeli and Jewish targets around the world, leading to an increase in incitement, attempted attacks, and manifestations of anti-semitism in many countries. The evolving situation prompted heightened levels of travel warnings across numerous countries.
