A small twin-engine plane was forced to make an emergency landing Monday in the southern Paris suburbs, according to France’s civil aviation safety agency. Reports from French media indicated that the aircraft landed near a populated area in the town of Villejuif. Sebastien Barthe, the communications director for the safety agency (BEA), stated that a “technical problem” was the cause of the unplanned landing, and that four people were on board, including the pilot. Mr. Barthe noted that the agency was investigating the incident, including the pilot’s health and the aircraft’s mechanical condition.
Emergency services were quick to arrive at the scene of the crash. Photos and videos widely shared on social media showed the plane against a wall and emergency personnel at work. Additionally, media reports suggested that three passengers were injured during the emergency landing, although Mr. Barthe stressed that the information had not yet been confirmed by the agency. The BEA will reportedly examine all aspects of the incident in order to determine the cause of the emergency landing.
