The transportation ministry of British Columbia warns of an impending “intense spring storm” that is expected to hit a 150 kilometer portion of Highway in the southeastern region of the province.
On Saturday morning, DriveBC released a travel advisory for the stretch of Highway 1 situated between Golden and Revelstoke.
The advisory announces that the storm is set to reach its peak on Monday and may necessitate avalanche control activity which could affect traffic flow in both directions.
DriveBC advises that a closure of up to 8 hours may be necessary in order to ensure the safety of travelers.
The advisory pertains to the segment of Highway 1 running between Highway 23 South and Golden Donald Upper Road.
