A group of more than 30 children were reunited with their families in Ukraine after being taken from occupied areas during the war and transported to Russia, according to a humanitarian organisation. Kyiv estimates that nearly 19,500 Ukrainian children have been taken to Russia since Moscow invaded in February last year, although Moscow denies the child abductions as illegal deportations, saying that the children have been transported away for their own safety. Mykola Kuleba, the founder of the Save Ukraine humanitarian organisation, said that all the children who have been brought back to Ukraine had said that no one in Russia was trying to find their parents in Ukraine. Human rights lawyers are currently collecting evidence to build up a case that Russian officials deliberately prevented the return of Ukrainian children back to their country.
