Coaches were stuck in long queues at the Port of Dover over the weekend before Easter, but as of Monday morning, the backlog had been cleared. A critical incident was declared on Friday night due to the high volume of traffic, severe delays at French Border Controls, and challenging weather conditions. Some blamed Brexit for the chaos, but Home Secretary Suella Braverman rejected this and said that the scene would not be a regular occurrence. Labour shadow levelling up secretary Lisa Nandy criticized the government for not preparing for post-Brexit border check changes. The port and logistics company DFDS apologized for the delays and were conducting a full review of their plans with ferry operators. Conservative MPs also suggested that Brexit played a part in the holiday gridlock. However, Braverman urged everyone to be patient and reassured that delays at Dover would not happen every school holiday.
