Thai immigration authorities have exposed a trend among Chinese men who find local Thai women to act as surrogates, allowing them to enter Thailand, raise the child, and bypass restrictions on foreign asset ownership. This has raised concerns among the Thai population. Recently, a commercial surrogacy syndicate involving Chinese and Burmese nationals was exposed during a police raid in Silom, Bangkok. The operation was kidnapping Chinese men and extorting money from them. The arrested men were found to be involved in an illegal surrogacy business in which Thai women acted as surrogate mothers, and also provided fake IDs and passports. Thai nationals were also found to be involved in the illegal surrogacy business. In addition to this, illegal retention of Chinese nationals in Thailand is also a common problem. Chinese nationals are increasingly fleeing China due to the CCP’s dictatorship, and many are seeking to immigrate illegally. Thailand is a popular destination for Chinese investors, and middle-income Chinese citizens are investing in property in Southeast Asia for their lower geopolitical risk. On the other hand, illegal immigrants from China are being arrested at various borders, including the US-Mexico border, and reports show that they are paying $35,000 to $50,000 to criminal gangs to access the United States.
