The controversial ad campaign by Bud Light featuring a transgender activist has led to the senior advertising executive Alissa Heinerscheid taking a leave of absence, according to sources. Heinerscheid is being replaced by Todd Allen, Budweiser’s global marketing vice-president. The infamous campaign featured a personalised Bud Light can with the face of the activist, Dylan Mulvaney, whose 365-day girlhood transition had attracted a large social media following. However, the campaign sparked a boycott by conservatives, including singer Kid Rock and Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, impacting Bud Light’s sales. Anheuser-Busch, owner of the Bud Light brand, released a patriotic ad on social media shortly after, which was criticised by some online users.
