Silvio Berlusconi, the former Italian Premier, was admitted to the ICU at Milan’s San Raffaele hospital due to an unresolved issue related to a previous infection. Despite being in intensive care, the 86-year-old was alert and speaking. Berlusconi has had various health concerns, including overcoming COVID-19 in 2020, receiving a pacemaker, undergoing heart surgery, and recovering from prostate cancer. He had been at San Raffaele for a regular check-up just last week. Berlusconi made a political comeback in September 2021, winning a Senate seat after being prohibited from holding public office due to a tax fraud conviction. Despite withdrawing from consideration to be Italy’s president in January 2022, he remains at the head of Forza Italia party.
