The supply chain management industry is eagerly embracing the integration of artificial intelligence (AI), which some experts predict will have an even bigger impact than the internet. Currently, just 17% of supply chain management companies use AI in their daily operations, but almost 50% see it as a disruptive force in the industry. Industry insiders like Amit Hasak, CEO and founder of Transship, believe AI will lead to more effective and resilient companies. However, it is vital to address underlying problems with infrastructure, and many platforms need to become more automated. AI will also need to be proactively managed to ensure data security and to minimize potential risks from cyber attacks, according to Iu Ayala, CEO of Gradient Insight. Despite these concerns, advocates see the benefits of increased AI integration, including greater efficiency, real-time optimization, and more transparent supply chains. While plans for AI expansion within the industry are optimistic, there is still a lot of work to be done in modernizing infrastructure to enable this transition.
