The Toronto police have apprehended and charged a 12-year-old boy for sexual assaults that occurred on walking paths and parks in the city’s eastern region last year. The boy has been charged with sexual assault in two cases while five other assaults cannot be attributed to him because he was 11 years old at the time. In Canada, individuals under 12 are not liable to face criminal charges. The boy was taken into custody on Monday, concluding a search that required the police to disclose a photo of the young suspect on two occasions with the court’s approval. In July 2022, the police informed the public about the series of sexual assaults when four women were attacked on two different trails in the Eastern region. The charges against the boy are related to September 6, where he sexually assaulted one woman in a park and another on a nearby trail, as claimed by the police.
