In SRINAGAR, India, a bus transporting Hindu pilgrims to a shrine in Indian-controlled Kashmir crashed off a highway bridge into a Himalayan ravine on Tuesday. The mishap resulted in the deaths of at least 10 individuals and injuries for 55 more, according to police.
Police stated that the bus was heading from Amritsar in Punjab to Katra when it fell into the gorge near Jammu. The bus was overloaded, according to local police officer Chandan Kohli, who said that the deceased were from Bihar state in eastern India.
Authorities and locals responded quickly to the scene and initiated a rescue effort. Those who were hurt have been taken to hospitals.
The Vaishno Devi temple, a highly regarded Hindu shrine, draws hundreds of thousands of people each year. It is located in Katra.
