A U.S. general has recommended that the government adjusts its programs and strategies based on the performance of the Russian and Ukrainian militaries to avoid potential future conflicts. Marine Brig. Gen. Mark Clingan believes that by learning from Ukraine alone, the United States could fail in a conflict against China over Taiwan. Clingan highlighted the importance of logistics in a Pacific conflict and that key logistics areas will come under threat. The United States military is currently undergoing modernization to better prepare for potential conflicts with China. The lessons learned from Ukraine demonstrate that the United States’ industrial base is not ready for major conflicts. The country will need to prepare its society for war and work on integrating drones, precision and loitering munitions to hunt and kill hostile targets in the next war.
