The Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) in Manitoba has recovered a handgun that was stolen from a safe belonging to an RCMP officer in 2019. Cody Tronrud was arrested after being found in possession of a semi-automatic handgun and has been charged by the RCMP with multiple weapons offenses. The firearm seized had been reported stolen from the home of an RCMP officer in Winnipeg. The Winnipeg Police Service is investigating the break-in. Cody Tronrud was previously arrested in 2009 on charges relating to organized drug trafficking in Winnipeg. It is unclear if he is the same individual arrested on March 20.
