A powerful summer storm swept through the Netherlands and parts of Germany, resulting in two fatalities and causing widespread damage. The Royal Netherlands Meteorological Institute issued its highest-level alert as Storm Poly brought heavy rain and strong winds, with gusts reaching speeds of over 145 kilometers per hour. The storm uprooted trees, caused debris to litter the streets, and resulted in the cancellation or delay of numerous flights at Amsterdam Airport Schiphol. Emergency services in the affected areas advised people to stay indoors, while the national railway company halted train services in the northern Netherlands. Germany also experienced disruptions, including canceled ferries and fallen trees on railway lines. Efforts were made to ensure the safe travels of affected individuals.
