Dominic Raab has resigned as deputy British prime minister following an inquiry into bullying claims against him. Oliver Dowden has replaced him in the role, while also serving as chancellor of the Duchy of Lancaster and secretary of state in the Cabinet Office. Alex Chalk has been appointed as the new Lord Chancellor and secretary of state for justice, replacing the vacant role left by Raab. In addition, Chloe Smith will cover Michelle Donelan’s role as science, innovation, and technology secretary during her maternity leave. The inquiry, conducted by Adam Tolley KC, found Raab to have acted in an “intimidating” manner towards MOJ officials. Raab argued that the threshold for bullying was set “so low” and will “encourage spurious complaints against ministers.”
