Officials and media reported that Tokyo, and the surrounding areas in Japan, were struck by an earthquake on Thursday. The quake, with a magnitude of 5.4, was centered in Chiba prefecture located southeast of Tokyo, according to the Japan Meteorological Agency. However, no tsunami warning was issued.
Japan’s Kyodo news agency reported that four individuals were injured, including a man who was hit by a falling ceiling light. Furthermore, some rail services were either delayed or canceled.
Japan is recognized as one of the world’s most earthquake-prone nations, with the massive quake in 2011, followed by a tsunami, which resulted in several thousand fatalities and a meltdown at the Fukushima nuclear power plant.
