According to a survey by J.D. Power, Canada’s two largest airlines, Air Canada and WestJet, scored below average for customer satisfaction compared to other major North American carriers. The poll found that both companies fell below the average satisfaction score of 782 out of 1,000 points for economy class services, with WestJet scoring 777 and Air Canada scoring 765. The growing frustration among passengers is attributed to pricier fares, crowded planes, and fewer flight options. The demand for travel remains strong, but higher labor and fuel costs have hampered profit margins, and capacity has not yet reached pre-pandemic levels. Additionally, a global pilot shortage has created issues in North America, partly explaining why fewer planes are currently flying compared to four years ago.
