A tragic incident occurred at an international youth tournament in Germany over the weekend, resulting in the death of a 15-year-old soccer player. Officials reported that the player suffered severe brain injuries during a post-match brawl with an opposing team. The Frankfurt police have stated that a postmortem examination will be conducted on the teenager in the forthcoming days. Currently, a 16-year-old player from a French team remains in custody, with further inquiries pending.
In an official statement, the Frankfurt police reported that a scuffle broke out among rival players following the final whistle on Sunday. The altercation soon escalated, resulting in a brawl between members of the French and Berlin teams.
During the fight, the victim was struck either in the head or neck region, following which he collapsed. Emergency medical personnel were immediately called to the scene and transported the injured player to a local hospital for treatment.
The specific circumstances that led to the brawl are still under investigation, and the police have appealed to witnesses to come forward if they have any video footage of the incident.
