A large number of Edmonton Police Service (EPS) officers dressed in blue uniforms walked in rows of eight down the streets of downtown Edmonton in a funeral procession for Constables Travis Jordan and Brett Ryan. The procession, which covered two-and-a-half kilometres, was held on March 27 and attracted about 45 groups from different military, emergency services, police, and fire communities across the country. The procession began at the Alberta legislature grounds and ended at Rogers Place. The public was allowed to pay their respects along the procession route, while the funeral ceremony was limited to family, special guests, and supporters from within law enforcement, emergency services, and military communities. Bagpipes and drums played as the officers’ caskets, draped with a Canadian flag, were brought onto the stage. Edmonton Police Chief Dale McFee, Edmonton Police Association president Curtis Hoople, and Alberta Lt.-Gov. Salma Lakhani offered tributes to the fallen constables. Jordan, 35, and Ryan, 30, were shot by a 16-year-old during a routine call on March 16.
