Nottawasaga Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have made an arrest and laid charges against a married couple from Essa Township for human trafficking. This comes just two days after the OPP issued a community safety advisory regarding the husband, who is a convicted sex offender.
The couple, identified as Lauriston Charles Maloney and Amber-Lee Maloney, have been charged with serious criminal offenses, according to a news release from the OPP. Lauriston Maloney is the husband and has been involved with the “Beating the Odds” Children’s Camp, which offers day camps and therapy for children with autism.
On July 17, the OPP issued a warning to the public about Mr. Maloney’s potential access to the children’s camp. The arrest and charges against the couple have since followed, bringing attention to this alarming situation. Further details about the specific charges were not provided in the news release.
