A suspect considered dangerous has been arrested by the police in Ponoka, Alberta, after the residents were issued a shelter-in-place warning. The Ponoka RCMP reported that they were searching for an armed suspect in a rural area near Township Road 422 and Range Road 245a. RCMP asked the residents to stay indoors, lock their doors and windows, and not pick anyone up on the road. The police advised people not to post pictures of law enforcement members on social media during the search. Later, the RCMP identified the suspect as Zachary Dylan Littlechild, described as 6’3″ tall, weighing 249 pounds, with blue eyes and brown hair in a short buzz cut with blond highlights. Littlechild was last seen wearing a black T-shirt and track pants. The RCMP Emergency Response Team, Air Services, Police Dog Service, and officers from various detachments participated in the search for the suspect. The police alerted seven schools in the area to keep their doors locked, and students and staff inside. By the next morning, the police lifted the alert after making an arrest. The RCMP will provide more information once they formally charge the suspect.
