On July 7, the U.S. Central Command carried out a drone strike in Eastern Syria, resulting in the death of an ISIS leader, Usamah al-Muhajir. The attack was conducted using MQ-9 drones that had earlier faced interference from Russian aircraft for nearly two hours. The U.S. has been actively targeting suspected ISIS operatives in Syria, particularly those sheltering in areas under the control of Turkey-backed rebels. This ongoing campaign, which included the elimination of former ISIS leader Abu Bakr al Baghdadi, aims to neutralize surviving leaders and prevent future attacks. While ISIS’s capabilities have been weakened, it remains a significant threat in the region, and its members continue to carry out terrorist attacks despite losing significant territory in Iraq and Syria.
