A deadly stampede occurred during a music festival at the Cochin University of Science and Technology in Kerala, India, on Saturday. The incident claimed the lives of at least four students and left 60 others injured. According to the Press Trust of India, the festival was interrupted by rain, causing the audience to rush for shelter, ultimately resulting in the stampede.
Of the 60 individuals injured, at least two are reported to be in critical condition, as per the Indian Express. Pinarayi Vijayan, the top elected official in Kerala, has ordered an investigation into the tragic event. The university is located in southern India and the stampede took place during a live musical event attended by students.
