Southern New South Wales and Sydney have been hit by heavy downpours and strong winds, with a severe weather warning persisting. On Sunday morning, the SES had already received 133 requests for help, reporting fallen trees and branches, roof damage, and water damage. Flash flooding affected some roads in Sydney on Saturday night due to extensive rainfall in some areas of the city, including a 100mm deluge in Point Perpendicular, close to Nowra, within 24 hours. A severe weather warning continues to be in place since a low-pressure system is active between Nowra and Narooma. On Sunday, the Illawarra and the south coast may experience further rainfall and damaging winds, according to SES Assistant Commissioner Nicole Hogan, who added that the threat from the weather system is not yet over. The SES estimates that minor flooding is probable at Canowindra, with river rises already noticed on the Belubula River and Mandagery Creek.
