Elnaz Hajtamari disappeared over a year ago after being kidnapped by individuals pretending to be police officers. The police have now detained and prosecuted a fourth suspect involved in her abduction. Adams Suleman Ankamah, a 29-year-old Brampton man, was arrested for kidnapping and a range of firearm offenses, including possession of firearms or ammunition that violates a restraining order, unauthorized firearm possession, reckless firearm storage, knowledge of unauthorized firearm possession, and proceeds from property acquired through crime over $5,000. He remains in custody and will appear in Barrie’s Ontario Court of Justice on June 1, 2023. However, a further suspect, Deshawn Davis from Toronto, remains on the run.
In December 2021, persons leasing vehicles may have information applicable to this case, as stated by the OPP. The OPP and York Regional Police have promised a $100,000 reward for any information leading to Hajtamiri’s whereabouts.
Hajtamiri’s sister has claimed that her ex-boyfriend threatened her multiple times, resulting in her fleeing and hiding from him. However, that man, Mohamad Lilo, was charged with both Hajtamiri’s kidnapping and attempted murder and attempted abduction charges from beating her with a frying pan in December 2021. Two other individuals have also been charged with offenses linked to the December parkade assault.
Hajtamiri is a slim, 5’3″ tall woman who moved to Canada from Iran less than five years ago. Her hair was cut short from a longer length before she vanished. It is essential to finding her that anyone with knowledge comes forward to the authorities.
