Today, two adults and three children are in critical condition after a serious collision occurred between a transport truck and a passenger vehicle on a major highway southwest of Montreal.
According to Quebec provincial police, emergency services were alerted about the accident on Highway 20 in St-Zotique, Quebec, which is about six kilometers from the Ontario border, shortly before 11 a.m.
Police spokesperson Sgt. Catherine Bernard states that it seems the truck driver failed to stop in time as traffic slowed down and crashed into a sport utility vehicle.
All five individuals in the SUV were transported to the hospital, and their lives are still at risk.
Bernard announces that a collision investigator is on their way to the scene.
The highway, also known as Highway 401 on the Ontario side of the border, remains closed for westbound traffic.
