Rescue workers in Nepal are conducting a search for a woman who was killed in a landslide triggered by an earthquake. Using shovels and their bare hands, the workers are digging through the debris to locate the victim. The incident occurred the previous day in the Bajhang district, near the border with India. Two earthquakes, measuring 6.3 and 5.3 in magnitude, struck within half an hour of each other, resulting in collapsed houses, injuries to at least 16 people, landslides, and the blocking of a major road.
At the site of the landslide in Okhal village, officials have discovered some human remains that are believed to be of the missing woman. However, no other reports of fatalities have been received. Nepal, a mountainous region that experiences frequent earthquakes, is still in the process of rebuilding after the devastating earthquakes in 2015. Those earthquakes claimed the lives of nearly 9,000 individuals and caused significant damage to towns, cities, and ancient temples.
