Stay informed with our live updates on the unfolding crisis in Israel and the Gaza Strip. The war that began on Oct. 7 has become the deadliest of the five Gaza wars for both sides.
Here are the latest updates on the Israel–Hamas war:
– The State Department is urging all Americans in Lebanon to “leave now” while commercial flight options remain available, amid growing tensions in the region due to Hezbollah’s sustained attacks on Israel from across its northern border with Lebanon.
– European Union foreign ministers are meeting Monday to discuss ways to help vital aid get into Gaza, particularly fuel, after two convoys entered over the weekend. The emphasis is on getting power and water-providing desalination plants running again as they are crucial for hospitals to function properly. The ministers will also address long-term solutions to resolve the conflict between Israel and the Palestinians.
– Iraq’s army spokesperson has said that the state will go after terrorists who have carried out attacks against army bases housing U.S. troops in the country. The U.S.-led coalition is in Iraq to train Iraqi forces, and the prime minister has ordered security agencies to prevent any attempt to harm Iraq’s national security amid the recent attacks on the bases.
– Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu warns Hezbollah to stay out of the war and states that if they enter, Israel will react more fiercely than it did in the 2006 war. Netanyahu emphasizes the consequences for Hezbollah and the Lebanese state would be devastating.
– Israel’s military confirms limited raids into the Gaza Strip by ground forces overnight and focuses airstrikes on sites where Palestinian terrorists are assembling. Hamas claims its fighters have engaged an armored force infiltrating southern Gaza and destroyed some Israeli military equipment. Israel’s chief military spokesman states that these raids are targeting terrorists who are preparing for the next stage in the war.
– Israel continues to bombard Gaza with air strikes ahead of an anticipated ground operation. The conflict spreads as Israeli aircraft strikes southern Lebanon, and Israeli troops clash with Palestinians in the occupied West Bank. The UN warns that civilians in Gaza are running out of places to seek shelter, and the aid received is insufficient to help the desperate population.
– Thousands of people gather in Paris for the first pro-Palestinian demonstration allowed by police since the Hamas attacks on Israel. They express solidarity with Palestinians and call for a ceasefire. A similar protest in Brussels also drew thousands of participants.
