According to Environment Canada, a heavy rain storm, described as an atmospheric river, is expected to impact southern British Columbia on December 4th. The storm is anticipated to bring heavy rain, snow at higher elevations, and an increased risk of flooding and landslides. Despite this, the agency states that the storm is likely to be less severe than the atmospheric river that caused significant flooding, landslides, and other damage in November 2021.
Additionally, Environment Canada has issued a special weather statement warning of elevated ocean water levels near Metro Vancouver, the southern Gulf Islands, and Saanich Peninsula, which are expected to result in high astronomical tides and minor coastal flooding along some shorelines. These elevated water levels are expected to persist until December 5th.
