A homeless man, who had been sentenced to 18 years in Belgium for a past crime, was apprehended by Dutch police after they discovered him carrying a stolen palm tree. The incident occurred in the town of Geldrop, where he was stopped for questioning while walking down the street with the inflatable tree. It is believed that the tree was taken from a beach volleyball tournament in the area. When the police checked the man’s identity, they found that he was wanted by Belgian authorities and had to serve his prison sentence there. The man’s name and specific details about his conviction were not released due to privacy rules. However, it is known that his conviction in Belgium was related to the death of a man in Zonhoven in 2016. The suspect is now in custody and will be transferred to Belgium.
