China has updated its General Administration of Customs to allow more stone fruit, mangoes, cherries and citrus from Australia to reach the Chinese market. The change comes after the first talks in more than two years between representatives from Australia’s Department of Agriculture and China’s General Administration of Customs. Nathan Hancock, CEO of Citrus Australia, said that the move is a positive sign and could add millions of dollars to trade between the two countries. However, while welcoming the move, Nationals leader David Littleproud warned that the test for Australian wine still needs to be passed. Beijing has also confirmed that it will resume the importation of Australian timber.
