An off-duty law enforcement officer from the Lake Cowichan RCMP in British Columbia is being praised for his brave actions. The officer saved the lives of three adults from a burning home on July 9. A neighbor noticed smoke coming from the house and called 911, but when they couldn’t wake the occupants, the officer, who happened to be passing by, entered the home and rescued two men. One of the men informed the officer that a woman was still inside, so the officer went back in and saved her as well. Fortunately, all three adults were safely evacuated before the house was fully engulfed in flames. The officer’s heroic actions were commended by Lita Watson, the detachment commander of the Lake Cowichan RCMP. The neighbor who initially tried to help and called for emergency assistance was also recognized. A neighbor named Tara Fraser set up a GoFundMe page to help the family affected by the fire. The community has also organized donations and a bottle drive to provide further support. The family, identified as Mike Bell and his son Travis Bell, expressed their shock and gratitude for being rescued from the fire. The cause of the fire is still under investigation but is currently not considered suspicious.
