Mounties in Surrey, B.C., had issued an Amber Alert for a two-month-old girl who was believed to have been abducted by her father and was traveling with him in a 2002 Chevy Suburban SUV. After issuing the alert, they received tips that led them to locate the infant and make an arrest.
Police had responded to a call Saturday morning and were speaking with a man in the SUV who had an infant with him. However, he unexpectedly drove off and officers attempted to pull him over but he did not stop. Police later found that the infant was in “imminent danger” so they issued the Amber Alert at 12:27 p.m.
The RCMP received a tip at 12:41 p.m. that helped them find the baby and arrest the 28-year-old suspect. Surrey RCMP spokeswoman Vanessa Munn stated that the Amber Alert “worked exactly how it was designed to work,” and that police immediately began receiving tips which led to the quick and safe location of the infant.
