The Reclaim Party leader, Laurence Fox, has expressed support for a group called the “Blade Runners,” who target cameras in London’s Ultra Low Emissions Zone (ULEZ). This comes after Mr. Fox was arrested and subsequently released following a police raid on his house. The arrest was made in connection with allegations that he conspired to commit criminal damage to ULEZ cameras. Mr. Fox shared footage of the police seizing possessions at his home on social media. He also revealed that he had been fired by GB News while in custody.
According to the police, a 45-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of conspiring to commit criminal damage to ULEZ cameras and encouraging or assisting offenses. He has been released on bail pending further investigations. In a video he posted, Mr. Fox can be seen pointing at officers in his house and expressing his views on the situation.
Meanwhile, the “Blade Runners” have been causing damage to ULEZ cameras as part of their activism. They have warned that their activities will escalate unless their demands are met. The Metropolitan Police reported that 244 ULEZ cameras were damaged and 41 were stolen in September alone, bringing the total tally since April to 795.
During an interview with Maajid Nawaz, Mr. Fox stated that he would be willing to be arrested for damaging ULEZ cameras. He defended the activities of the “Blade Runners,” referring to it as “digital flytipping.” He believes that the surveillance state should be removed as it cannot be undone once established.
This arrest follows a tumultuous period for Mr. Fox, who was suspended by GB News and is currently under investigation by Ofcom due to comments made on-air about journalist Ava Evans. He and presenter Dan Wootton were suspended by the channel, and another GB News host, Calvin Robinson, was dismissed for showing support to Mr. Wootton. An internal investigation into Mr. Wootton is ongoing.
In an interview with Sky News, Mr. Fox learned about his sacking from GB News while at the police station. He expressed relief upon hearing the news. The Epoch Times has reached out to Mr. Fox for comment.
