A Tajikistan national who was denied entry into Moldova at Chisinau International Airport grabbed a guard’s weapon and fatally shot two security officers. One traveler was also injured in the incident. The suspect was being escorted by officials when he took the gun and fired shots. Special forces intervened and arrested the suspect, who is currently hospitalized with serious injuries. Moldova’s Prime Minister confirmed that the suspect was from Tajikistan. The incident is being investigated as a possible terrorist attack. Moldova’s President expressed condolences to the families of the victims and stated that state institutions are on high alert. The Ministry of Internal Affairs assured that the aggressor will be held accountable and a criminal investigation has been initiated.
