A tragic car crash has left four teenagers dead and one in critical condition in a close-knit community in regional Victoria. The car, carrying five passengers, lost control and collided with a tree on Wannon-Nigretta Falls Road in Bochara. The crash was reported by a passerby at approximately 9:30am on Saturday. Two females and two males were killed on the spot while the fifth passenger, a teenage girl, was flown to Melbourne’s Alfred hospital and remains in a serious condition. The victims have yet to be formally identified, but four of them were reportedly students at Baimbridge College in Hamilton. Detectives from the major collision unit are investigating the crash, photographs of the wreck showed graffiti on the seats with the words “drive safe” and “love people help people.” The community is mourning the loss of the young lives and the Southern Grampians Shire Council has expressed its condolences to the families and friends of the victims. Premier Daniel Andrews has urged Victorians to drive safely, especially now that winter is approaching.
