An Iranian court has sentenced two men to death over an attack on a Shi’ite shrine that killed 15 people in October. The attack was claimed by ISIS. Fars Province judiciary head Kazem Mousavi said the men had been found guilty of spreading corruption on earth and acting against national security. The sentences can be appealed. Footage broadcast on state TV showed the attacker hiding a rifle in a bag before entering the Shah Cheragh shrine in Shiraz, shooting worshippers as they tried to flee. The gunman, a citizen of Tajikistan, later died in hospital. The two men sentenced to death reportedly admitted to being in contact with ISIS in Afghanistan and helped to organise the attack. Three other men received jail sentences ranging from five to 25 years. Several other suspects were awaiting trial. ISIS has claimed previous violent attacks in Iran.
