Trudeau spent $6,000 on London hotel for Queen's funeral. 1

The Prime Minister of Canada, Justin Trudeau, and his wife, Sophie Grégoire Trudeau, reportedly stayed in a pricey hotel suite while attending the funeral of Queen Elizabeth II. The stay at the Corinthia London hotel was under scrutiny by the media last year, after obtaining documents through access-to-information requests. However, Trudeau’s office and Global Affairs Canada did not respond to questions about who stayed in the $6,000-per-night river suite, which features a butler service. The hotel suite was booked on Sept. 9, one day after the Queen’s death, for Sept. 15 to 20. The Prime Minister’s Office defended the high cost, stating that hotel prices surged significantly ahead of the funeral, and many London hotels were sold out as 500 heads of state and their delegations descended on the city. Trudeau and his wife were reportedly the only ones who stayed in the suite.
