A wanted suspect in connection with the stabbing of an off-duty officer allegedly forced a man out of an apartment at gunpoint and drove away. Our officers spotted the suspect driving the vehicle around 11:30 a.m. and tried to stop him, but he refused and sped into two police vehicles, injuring one officer and hitting other vehicles, all while the kidnap victim remained in the car. The police pursued the vehicle at a safe distance and the victim was able to jump and escape without injury. The suspect drove recklessly and continued to flee as officers sought to catch him, even reversing into an unmarked police vehicle at one point. The Emergency Task Force eventually intercepted the vehicle and arrested the suspect, confirming the recovery of an airsoft pistol. TPS Chief Myron Demkiw praised the effort of officers involved in the rescue and arrest of the suspect, who was later identified as Jim Dimce Kaluzovski. Kaluzovski faces numerous charges including kidnapping, assault with a weapon, and assaulting a peace officer. He has also been charged in the Dec. 6th incident where he was accused, along with three other individuals, of robbing a store and stabbing an off-duty police officer. A second suspect, Preston Calladine, is also wanted in connection with the crime, while the remaining two suspects have yet to be identified. Police ask that anyone with information contact them or Crime Stoppers.
