Six people killed in Russian rocket attack during Putin’s speech in Ukraine.

At least six people were killed and 12 more were wounded when a Russian rocket struck a busy street in the Ukrainian city of Kherson on Feb. 21, 2023, during a speech by Russian President Vladimir Putin. The blast also caused extensive damage to a line of shop-fronts behind a bus stop, took down power cables, and shattered windows on the opposite side of the street.

Local authorities reported that Kherson was hit by multiple rocket launchers as Putin delivered his speech. Ukraine’s military said that around 20 rockets were fired at the city.

Kherson was recaptured by Ukraine in November after eight months of Russian control. The city and its surrounding areas have since been under almost constant bombardment from Russian forces on the opposite side of the Dnipro River.
