Service for Edmonton officers shot, killed planned next week. 1

A funeral has been planned for two police officers from Edmonton who were shot and killed while on duty last week. The service for 35-year-old Travis Jordan and 30-year-old Brett Ryan will take place on March 27 at Rogers Place, home to the Edmonton Oilers of the National Hockey League. The officers were responding to a family dispute at a northwest apartment complex when they were shot multiple times by a 16-year-old boy who then shot and killed himself. The public is encouraged to show support by lining the route as the officers’ bodies are transported to a funeral home. The shooting was described as an “ambush” by Deputy Chief Devin Laforce. The boy had no criminal record, but police had responded to a mental health call at the home previously.
