This was the second earthquake of similar magnitude to hit Romania’s Oltenia region in 24 hours, with an earlier quake occurring on Monday with a magnitude of 5.2 and at a depth of 13.2 kilometers (8 miles). Aftershocks above magnitude 3 followed both quakes.
