Prince Abdul Mateen of Brunei, a well-known royal figure in Asia, recently embarked on a 10-day long marriage ceremony with his fiancée, Anisha Rosnah Isa-Kalebic. The ceremony, which began on January 7th and is set to conclude on Tuesday, has garnered significant attention due to its elaborate and traditional nature. A solemnization ceremony took place at a mosque on Thursday.
At 32 years old, Prince Mateen is the fourth son and 10th child of Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah, who is among the wealthiest individuals in the world. Despite being sixth in line to the throne, the prince has become increasingly prominent in recent years, often accompanying his father on diplomatic engagements. The engagement of Prince Mateen and Mrs. Isa-Kalebic, who is the granddaughter of the ruler’s special advisor, was announced by the sultan in October. Prince Mateen, known for his interests in polo and his role as a helicopter pilot in the Royal Brunei Air Force, has a substantial following on Instagram. Meanwhile, Mrs. Isa-Kalebic is reported to own a fashion brand and a tourism business.
The main wedding reception on Sunday will take place at the 1,788-room palace and is expected to be attended by international royalty and dignitaries. The day will also feature a parade through the capital of Bandar Sri Begawan.
