As parliament begins its new session, Conservative Leader Pierre Poilievre is focusing on four main issues: addressing the housing crisis, balancing the budget, stopping crime, and ending the carbon tax for farmers. He is aiming to pass the farm heating bill, which has seen amendments made in the Senate. The amendment would remove all but grain drying from the exemption included in the original bill. Meanwhile, Mr. Poilievre has promised to cap government spending and cut waste to balance the budget, as well as respond to inflation.
Mr. Poilievre is also working on a bill, Building Homes Not Bureaucracy, to address the housing crisis and plans to tackle crime, attributing the increase in violent crime to the prime minister’s policies. This promise includes addressing car thefts and focuses on the need to capture and detain repeat violent offenders to decrease instances of crime. As Parliament resumes, Mr. Poilievre is resolute in his efforts to address these issues, and at the same time dismisses attacks made by Prime Minister Trudeau.
