Ontario pastor and family cleared of COVID charges. 1

The Justice Centre for Constitutional Freedoms (JCCF) announced on March 9 that the charges against a pastor, Henry Hildebrandt, and his family for participating in a rally during the province’s COVID-19 gathering restrictions in 2021 have been dropped. According to the JCCF release, on April 3, 2021, Hildebrandt, along with his wife and son attended a peaceful “No More Lockdowns” protest held in Brantford to rally against Ontario’s COVID-19 stay-at-home orders and gathering limits. At the time, outdoor gatherings were limited to five people. Despite Hildebrandt speaking at the rally, the police presence was minimal, and the protest was peaceful. While Hildebrandt’s charges have been dropped, he still faces prosecutions in other jurisdictions, despite his legal defence being funded solely by the JCCF.
