One person was killed and 11 others were injured after a bus transporting from Montreal crashed on Interstate Highway 87 in Lake George, N.Y. The incident occurred at around 12:50 p.m. on Jan. 5 as the Skyway Coach Line tour bus, en route to New York City, crashed at that location. Reports indicate that the passengers on the bus included 23 individuals, along with the driver, and the injured individuals were taken to nearby hospitals.
Local news outlets captured footage of the bus laying on its side on the roadway, and the situation prompted a response from Governor Kathy Hochul, who noted that police and Department of Transportation personnel were present and participating in rescue operations at the scene. The severity of the injuries varies, with one passenger needing to be airlifted to Albany Medical Center in critical condition, while others suffered minor injuries. Ray Agnew, a Glens Falls Hospital spokesperson, stated that the hospital received multiple passengers with minor injuries.
At this time, the incident is still being investigated, and Police spokesperson Deanna Cohen did not have additional information to provide. Ms. Hochul expressed her concern for those involved and conveyed her gratitude to the first responders.
